Started in a small garage in Turners Falls. Now a 2,600 square foot shop on the French King Highway, with work on buildings from Greenfield to Amherst.
Our story
From a garage in Turners Falls
Hale Custom Signs was started by Dan Hale in 2004, after working and training with a prominent sign maker in Hatfield, Massachusetts for eleven years. Then he decided it was time for him to form his own identity.
Starting out in a small garage space in Turners Falls, he quickly outgrew it and moved to a location on Montague City Road in Greenfield. In 2014 we found our new home at 277 French King Highway in Gill, which increased our shop area from 1,500 square feet to over 2,600.
Early projects were modest. But as our reputation grew and more projects with the Hale name on them appeared around the county, Hale Custom Signs became the sign shop to go to — for quality construction as much as for clear, eye-catching design.
With a combined 51 years of experience, the staff here continues to provide the community with quality service, an exceptional product, and real value.

2004
Hale Custom Signs opens
Dan decides it is time to form his own identity and starts Hale Custom Signs out of a small garage space in Turners Falls.
2000s
Outgrowing the garage
The shop quickly outgrows the garage and moves to a larger location on Montague City Road in Greenfield as more work with the Hale name on it appears around the county.
2014
The French King Highway
A new home at 277 French King Highway in Gill takes the shop from 1,500 square feet to over 2,600 — room for the router, the blast booth, the neon bench and a full vehicle bay.
